THINK ABOUT THINGS DIFFERENTLY

The human in you and I is always craving for more. We all want a better life for ourselves, and unfortunately, most of us are convinced that the only way to have a better life is to get more material wealth. More money, a better house, better clothes, better cars etc. Unfortunately in this era, social media has not made it any better. For some reason our friends and family seem to be doing better than us, and that disturbs something from our inside!

Recently I have been learning better. We have a two and half year old son, and he always wants to be the one to pray before we go to bed. His prayer goes something like this: ‘LORD Jesus, thank you for today, thank you for mom, thank you for dad, thank you for me, thank you cabbage, thank you for rice, thank you for soup, thank you for the keys, thank you for my toys, thank you for the bed…’ He will literally go on until he remembers nothing more, then he will say, ‘In Jesus name, amen.’ At first it was quite hilarious to my husband I, but lately, God has been speaking to me through it.

For the little boy, there is literally nothing to take for granted, not even water, or soup, or a bed to lie lie on. God has been opening my eyes, to how, by focusing on the ‘big things’ we sometimes miss him. He has been challenging me and reminding me to think differently. While it is great to be ambitious, and aspire for more and better, we should never forget that none of all that we have is deserved. We are living on pure grace, and by God’s mercy. Every little thing you have adds up to the ‘big’ you would want to have.

How about you begin by thanking God for the little as you trust him for the big and mighty. You may not have it all figured out, but you are actually reading this post. It means you have a gadget, you have internet connection, you have handles to scroll, ears to hear and eyes to read. If you think that is little, think about those who may never get to read this and other posts because they do not have the above mentioned.

I dare you to think differently. #Bethankful.
